POLICE were called to a restaurant in Cathedral Yard in Exeter early Wednesday morning.
An armed unit was called to the Al Farid restaurant, after a burglar was seen inside with a large carving knife.
Police officers, dog handlers and armed police surrounded the premises before the 36-year-old man inside gave himself up peacefully.
The man from the Torquay area was arrested and detained at Heavitree Road police station in Exeter, and was later released on police bail.
