LOCAl MP David Laws is pushing for the upgradeing of the A358 between Ilminster and Taunton.
Mr Laws has written to the South-West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) outlining his support for the project.
In his letter, Mr Laws also noted that he disagreed with improvments to the A303 on the grounds of them being environmentally controversial and also the likelihood of many planning disputes.
