AMBITIOUS plans to link Bridgwater's canal to Devon have been sunk - but there is still good news on the horizon for thw waterways around the town.
The proposed £62million restoration of the Grand Western Canal was first floated two years ago, but Somerset County Council is set to put its energies and resources elsewhere.
Instead county hall chiefs have vowed to concentrate on looking into the waterways connected to the River Parrett, which could be transformed by a tidal sluice.
