DEPUTY Prime Minister John Prescott is being invited to drive one of his Jaguars to Bridgwater to intervene in the long-running Cornhill saga, after plans to revitalise it crumbled yet again.
The complex saga has now reached boiling point after the Government Office for the South-West appeared determined to uphold the views of English Heritage.
Those views are that the proposed Cornhill bistro should not have glazing near the outer pillars - even if it would keep drug addicts amd drinkers out at night, and maximise floor space for customers.
This means stalemate - without the glazing, the building is not commercially viable, and with glazing, it will seemingly never get planning permission.
