TRELAWNY went out on a winning note at the Clay Country Moto Parc when they beat Newport after a last heat decider in Tuesday's Premier League match.

It proved to be a fittingly mixed evening to ring down the curtain on seven years of racing at the popular speedway track.

Although the JAG Tigers won by four points on the night, they missed out on the aggregate bonus by two points against their Welsh rivals.

Similarly, there were contrasting fortunes for Trelawny's talented two young prospects Chris Harris and Matej Zagar.

Harris bowed out at the Moto Parc in style. The Cornish-based world under 21 runner-up won all five races, including a number from the back after missing out at the gate.

His fifth win in the final race at the Moto Parc was greeted by the bumps from his team mates.

Missing out on the celebrations, however, was Zagar who by then had been taken by ambulance to hospital, having aggravated an old neck injury.

It was clearly not a night to remember for the Slovenian star. He fell on the first bend of the opening race but was given a reprieve when referee Barry Richardson ruled an unsatisfactory start.

That meant all four riders came back for the re-run in which Zagar beat visiting number one Frank Smart.

A 4-2 from Richard Wolff and Holloway over Tony Atkin and Schramm in heat 14 sent Trelawny into the last heat decider with a four-point lead on the night and two-point deficit on aggregate.

Harris won that final race at the Moto Parc to secure Trelawny's home win, but Iversen and Watson took the minor places ahead of Ondrasik to give Newport the aggregate bonus.
