Menheniot got the better of Truro at Boscawen Park on Saturday to gain a well earned winning draw.

The 15 points they picked up in the process, coupled with Mullion's home defeat against Falmouth, just about ensures ECB Cornwall Premier League cricket at Fourgates next season.

As for Truro this fifth defeat of the season, and Newquay's win at Grampound Road, just about puts the cap on their remote chances of retaining the title for a third year.

After being put, in Menheniot lost Alex Tunnadine caught off the bowling of Chris Phillips for 14 and Phil Goldsmith was bowled by Adam Barber, returning to the Truro attack. Goldsmith had made a quick 24.

Danny Lee was run out for a competent 30 with the score at 91 and a good position appeared under threat when Dave Herbert followed soon after, stumped by Stuart McNair off the bowling of Michael Munday for 12 at 98-4.

The Menheniot middle order failed to fire as Hugh Rogers, Chris Headdon and Andrew Keeble all disappeared quickly as Munday and Jon Kent took a firm grip on proceedings to leave Menheniot ottering at 129-7.

However, it was some good batting by the experienced Simon Hunt and Lloyd Sluman that gave the visitors' total a belated boost with some handsome hitting.

Hunt made 52 not out in an innings that boasted six fours and Sluman also found the boundary on seven occasions, including a six, in making an important contribution of 35.

The pair added a crucial 53 for the seventh wicket. Menheniot got to 206-9 in 55 overs. Jon Kent, bowling from the pavilion end, took 3-27 off 16 overs in a tight spell and Michael Munday took 2-71 from 13 overs.

In reply Truro openers Julian Bose (15) and Richard Pascoe (23) got the home side off to a good start in adding 33.

Sluman dismissed them both then he bowled Kent at 97-3. Adam Barber followed without scoring, bowled by Simon Hunt.

After mark Adams became a second victim for Hunt only skipper Tom Sharp made a real impression, but despite hitting 72 in a knock that included ten fours, he was unable to save his side. His dismissal at 147 ended Truro's chances.

Sluman completed a fine game taking 4-27 off 16 overs and Hunt took 3-48 as Truro stuttered to 159-8 in their 55 overs.
