A LICENSEE is threatening to take her case to the European Court of Human Rights for restriction of trade after her application for a licence extension was rejected by Sedgemoor District Council.
Sedgemoor District Council's development control committee last week turned down an application to enable The Squashed Frog in Burnham to stay open until 2am.
Licensee Fran Rossiter was hoping to vary planning conditions, which require the seafront venue to shut at 1am with amplified music, turned off at 12.34am.
But committee members heard claims that the club, which was formerly known as the Bondi Beach Club, had not complied with existing conditions and that objections had been received from 12 residents on the grounds of violence, rubbish, unsociable behaviour, loud music, disturbance of sleep and damage to property.
