A BURNHAM nurse found high on stolen prescription drugs while looking after four cancer patients was struck off the nurses register on Monday.
Police believe that Christopher Andrew Planche, 35, of Burnham, injected himself with Midazolan at the Oncology Centre at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol, when he was supposed to be looking after four cancer patients on the night of April 23 last year.
A fellow nurse found Planche - who was working as an agency nurse at the time - falling a sleep on his feet with his eyes rolling back in his head during the night shift.
On May 23, he was convicted at Bristol Magistrates' Court of the theft of drugs and received a community punishment order for 180 hours and ordered to pay costs of £60 and compensation to Bristol Healthcare NHS Trust of £10.53.
