Helston had a comfortable win at home to Camborne on Saturday by 51 runs to maintain their third spot in County Division 1.
Having been put in Helston responded with a solid top order batting performance.
David Pascoe and Chris Martin put on 64 for the first wicket before Martin was caught by Peter Butler off the bowling of Scott Harris for 25. Harris claimed a second important scalp when he trapped Pascoe for 33.
Youngster Jonny Ludlam, promoted up the order, made 41 before being run out. Steve Pollard and Mark Thomas both made 43 to take the total past the 200 mark.
Tom Harvey picked up a couple of late wickets as Helston ended on 240-8 in an innings that included 38 extras. Three wickets fell on 238 at the end in the quest for late runs. Harris took 2-48 and Harvey 2-38
Camborne made a steady start in reply with Nigel Endean making 20 before being bowled by Dominic Bostock at 32-1. Harvey and Alan Butler, making his debut from Troon, took the total to 91 in 26 overs.
Harvey was bowled by Bradley Bury for 22 then Pascoe got rid of Daniel Mitchell without scoring. Butler went on to make 46 but wickets fell regularly as Camborne slipped to 157-9 but King (17) and Giles Head (12 no) put on 33 for the last wicket. Helston were not to be denied maximum points when the innings ended with King being run out of the fourth ball of the last over.
Bury took 4-42 with his spin. Pascoe took 2-31 and Pollard, in a rare bowl, took 2-45.
