TWO young sailors from Falmouth, Matt Pullen and Deborah Rickard, have just pulled off their most impressive result sailing in the Dart 18s.
The Restronguet Sailing Club-based sailors were in scintillating form at the Mumbles near Swansea in South Wales where they almost enjoyed a five-race clean sweep on the National Grand Prix circuit.
Racing in their new yacht, Rickard (25) and Pullen (27), the latter already an established name in local sailing circles for many years, finished in first place on four occasions and fourth in other race to win the series.
The duo are now entering their third year racing Dart 18s and prior to their success in Wales competed in the nationals on the Solent in Southampton where they finished a creditable 12th out of 70 boats.
Buoyed by their success in their new boat, Rickard and Pullen's next target is to compete in the World Championships which are also being held on the Solent later in the year. Over 250 crews have already signed up.
