A 39-year-old father of two has been charged with the murder of his wife whose body was found at the family home in Camborne in the early hours of Friday morning.

Officers, including scenes of crime specialists, spent Friday at the scene in Moor Street, a road of terraced, old-style properties on the edge of the town centre shopping area.

The body of 34-year-old Mrs Janine Mundy was taken to Truro's Royal Cornwall Hospital where a post mortem examination was carried out. Her husband, Anthony Wayne Mundy, was later arrested by police and charged with murder.

Neighbours in Moor Street were tight-lipped about the incident and reluctant to talk to the press.

One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, told the Packet: "She was a lovely lady. We spoke now and again, but I never really knew her."

Another also declined to comment, saying they were still trying to come to terms with the tragedy.

Flowers from friends, family and wellwishers adorn the front step of the property where the body was discovered, with passers-by stopping to read the messages attached to them.

Mrs Mundy and her husband have two children. She had worked in the Moss Pharmacy, formerly Frampton's, in Trelowarren Street, Camborne, since she was 16, and had only left in January. Staff there were devastated by the news of her death.

Mr Mundy's father, Barry, recently came to the rescue of a Camborne care home which had its bird bath stolen. He has links with Blackwood House, which looked after his grandmother for many years before her death. Through his firm, Country Gardens, he offered to replace the stolen bird bath free of charge.

Last November the town was shaken by the death of another woman in her 30s. Registered sex offender David Strudwick, 55, was convicted of the murder of 38-year-old Debbie Foster last month.

 This week, Anthony Wayne Mundy, whose address was given as Havelock Bungalows, Playing Field Road, Roskear, Camborne, was remanded in custody by magistrates to stand trial at Truro Crown Court charged with murdering his wife, Janine Mundy, between June 25 and 28. The magistrates agreed to extend legal aid to include leading and junior counsel for his trial.
