WINNING at Roskear against Camborne in County Division One takes Hayle to a respectable fifth position. Camborne are now in ninth place, writes Paul Bawden.

Taking first knock, Hayle lost Green (5) and Stuckey (6) in reaching 22-2, Graham Warren bowling both openers as Hayle tried yet another opening pair.

Dave Aunger, a former skipper, with Paul Lello, a stalwart if ever there was one in Hayle's cause, added 111 vital runs against a five-man Camborne attack.

Aunger was bowled by Scott Harris for 46 after hitting a six and seven fours from 87 balls faced and Greg Mungles went for a duck, caught off Harris at 135.

Lello with a six and eight fours faced 105 deliveries, in 100 minutes when he was caught by Mark King, who was behind the stumps, for a splendid 68.

Opening bowler Warren finished with three wickets - as did his opening partner - with three of the lower order players in his second spell.

Kevin Jenkin batting at six, helped Hayle reach 186-9.

Camborne, in reply, lost three wickets in reaching 39, all to Mungles who shared the opening attack with Smitheram.

Scott and Hinds added 54 runs for the fourth wicket, Stuckey getting an lbw shout against Hines at 93.

Two further wickets fell without addition with Mungles and Lello the wicket takers.

Powell, Warren, King and Shears made double figure contributions, but it was Paul Lello, on as second change bowler, who took charge with a splendid 6.4-3-11-4 bowling return that won the match by 24 runs in the 39th over.

Hayle gained 19 points to Camborne's 7, with 24 extras helping the home team's total. HAYLE
