PAWLETT'S Lee Childs was the toast of Wimbledon on Monday after beating the seeded Nikolay Davydenki in the first round of the men's single. The 21-year-old from Old Main Road, Pawlett, 452 places behind the Russian 33 seed in the world rankings, brought a packed crowed to their feet on court 13 by winning 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
It was his first ever five-set match, his first senior victory in a Grand Slam tournament, the first time he has won a senior match on grass and easily his biggest victory since turning professional more than two years ago.
