Pottermania came to Truro at the weekend as queues of people lined up outside city bookshops before midnight on Friday eager to be first to buy the new J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter.
A sales embargo had been imposed until midnight but there was no shortage of Potter enthusiasts turning out, many with their parents, to make sure of their copies. By next morning, fresh queues had formed and some staff and customers even sported special outfits depicting their favourite Harry Potter characters as they waited or served behind the counter.
By Saturday evening the book was without doubt selling well with special discounted prices on offer at most stores. As for the readers, they varied from five to 55 - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix had become a best seller overnight.
