DESPITE heavy rain and thunder storms Cornwall Raceways only lost one race from their meeting held on Sunday at their Trezemper track, so the first race at the next meeting will be the mini final that should have been raced then.

The junior minis once again provided the biggest class with 811 Nathanial Price continuing his winning streak to take the first heat. The second heat was a terrific race with 866 Graham Payne and 831 Barry McAleer crossing the line absolutely together for a dead heat. Payne, racing for the first time, went on to win the third. The final was cancelled due to the slippery track.

The small Banger class saw a huge increase in numbers and racing included some hard-hitting action in all their races. No 12 Andy Frankson won the first heat, 07 defending champion, Steve Coleman, easily won the second and just managed to win the third. 308 Clinton Bray took top honours in the finalwith 236 Mark Finnamore in second and 00, Ronnie Mathews in third.

The big Banger class is enoying something of a revival with more and more cars turning up to every meeting, but 210 Mike Johns is still the man to beat. He took the first and third heats and came second behind 131 Steve Cock in the second heat. The final went to 53 Anthony Mitchell in very sticky conditions, second place went to 180, Ed Bowman who managed to hit every car still running and finshed the race in reverse, 52 Andrew Everit finished third.

The Grasstox class continues to provide fast racing with 116 Martin Thomas winning the first heat, 314 Bob Marshall the second and 208, Dougie Bray, the third. The final saw Marshall grab the hole shot into the first bend and he stayed there to the chequered flag with Bray in second and Thomas in third.

Kevin James is beginning to dominate the Ro class. Even starting from the back of the grid there is very little the others can do to stop him running away at the top of the championship table. He won the first two heats and came second in the third behind 111. Dave Hollow then went on to win the final ahead of Hollow with 136 Tony Lewis in third.

The race organisers wish to appeal to anyone who was travelling along the Helston to Falmouth road on Friday, June 20, between 5 and 6.30 pm when one of their large yellow and black mobile advertising trailers was stolen. If you saw it being moved please ring Doug Bray on 012326 562652 or Pete Collins on 01326 221857.

The next meeting will be at the Trezemper track on the main Helston St Keverne road on Sunday, July 6, first race 1.30pm.
