A&P Falmouth have secured two more contracts to repair two giant roll on roll off ships from the Grimaldi Lines Group which arrive next month for drydocking.
Following the successful drydocking of the 52,000 ton Grande Bretagna and the 42,000 ton Republica di Roma last year the sisterships Grande Africa 56,700 tons and Grande Atlantico are scheduled to arrive at the docks in July.
The 214 metre long multi-purpose ro/ro vessels run on the Europe to West Africa route and can carry 3,515 cars and 1,321 TEUs.
The Grimaldi Group, one of the world's largest privately owned shipping companies, were one of the pioneers of the roll on roll off concept and currently has one of the largest and most modern fleet of purpose built RoRo and multipurpose RoRo vessels in the world.
l TEU - describes the capacities of container ships. One ISO (20ft x 8ft) container equals 1 TEU. 140 ft ISO (40x 8ft) container equals 2 TEU.
