MULLION Ladies played in a medal competition for the A P Herbert Cup last Tuesday and the winner with a nett 72 was Sally Markham, followed on nett 75 by Rosie Ellison who pipped Margaret Hosking on count back.

The Lizard Outreach Trust held its annual fund raising golf day at Mullion on Wednesday.

Teams of four played in a Stableford competition with the best two scores counting on each hole.

The juniors, who were playing in a separate competition, provided the best scores of the day with Matthew Norton, Will Greaves, Ben Evans and Sean Nuzum returning an amazing 100 points.

They were followed by Ben Wilson, Leo Acklin, Nicola Sobey and Bradley Keenan with 93 points.

In the adult competition, the winners with 91 points were Dennis McQuillan, Steve Crouch, Peter Risley and Paul Burns. They edged out Mike Hodges, Dennis Nicholls, Tommy Edwards and Richard Williams on count back and they similarly pipped Patrick Gilbert, Peter Oliver, Ryan Retallack and George Davis.

In fourth place, but also in the prizes, were Richard Lane, Andrew Harry, Derek Wilkes and David Hallett who scored 90 points. The day raised about £2,000 for the charity.

On Saturday the juniors played a team game with two Stableford scores counting on each hole. The winners with 85 points were Craig Whitehead, Daniel Wagstaff and Liam Nuzum. They were followed on 83 points by Bradley Keenan, Alan Lieske and Perran Gilbert.

The Volvo Cups were at stake in the men's competition on Sunday in a better ball medal.

The winners with a nett score of 63.5 were John Hall and Dale Wilson. They beat Richard Lane and Doug Evans on count back and they were followed by Richard Pascoe and Terry Sobey with a nett 64.
