Where will it end? The City of Truro Half Marathon continues to get bigger and bigger each year, with 509 runners, a Cornwall Road Race record, lining up in warm sunshine on the Lemon Quay Piazza on Sunday.

Runners in this popular event, round 11 of the Capio Duchy Hospital Grand Prix Series, began with a one-and-a-half-mile circuit around the city centre, before heading out into the country, following undulating narrow lanes towards Shortlanesend. Cornwall Athletic Club's Dave Buzza and Noel Kindon were soon setting the pace, but clearly all was not well with Kindon, who was suffering from a reoccurrence of breathing problems and was eventually forced to drop out.

Buzza moved relentlessly on with another Cornwall Athletic Club athlete, Tony Dunn, moving into second place and the winner of last month's Indian Queens Half Marathon, Glyn Davis (Carn Runners), completing an all-veteran top three. The leading positions remained unaltered as the runners returned to the finish in Lemon Street.

With six runners to score in the team competition, Newquay Road Runners were comfortable winners, ahead of Cornwall Athletic Club, with Hayle Runners producing a solid team performance to clinch third spot.
