The future of a multi-million pound DIY store planned for Penryn was assured this week despite an announcement that B&Q is to close 22 of its stores nationwide.
"All is still going according to plan for the proposed B&Q store at Penryn. We have a programme to start on site on October 3, 2005," said Alison Yaldren, from the company's public relations department.
B&Q already operates a store in Pool and while staff there are concerned for their futures there was concern that the company could shelve its plans for Penryn and with it 120 jobs.
Penryn town clerk Kevin Paul was also confident the Penryn store plans would still go ahead.
He said a signed agreement had only just been reached with county highways officials concerning a new road off a mini-roundabout at Kernick which would lead to the store.
