Police are hunting for a man with an Eastern European accent who tried to steal the car of a woman in the car par of Helston's Tesco superstore.

The attempted robbery happened just after dusk at 8.45pm on September. The man grabbed the woman by her lapels, pushed her against her car and demanded her car keys. The woman threw her keys away but was later able to retrieve them.

Her attacker made off when another car pulled into the car park near them. The victim described him as white with a swarthy complexion whose accent she thought was either Albanian or Romanian. He was about 5ft 9ins tall and approximately 30 years old and was wearing a hoody top which covered his rather scruffy hair.

When he made his escape he dropped a plastic bag containing five £20 notes and a small key which could possibly fit a caravan lock.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident who should call 08452 777444 if they have any information concerning the attack.
