Wellington traders are being hit by a spate of late night burglaries.

Four addresses in 12 days have been burgled in the town centre with cash, electronics and shop goods targeted in the copycat attacks.

All entries to the premises have been forced and the burglaries have taken place in the early hours of the morning, leaving shop owners scratching their heads about where could be next.

Jeremy Massey-Cross, who owns Wellington Pet and Garden Store in the High Street, was one victim of an early hours raid - his third burglary in as many years.

He said: "This time, they took three saddles, two riding hats and a small amount of cash. Last time, they took a safe out of the back window.

A male in his 20s is in custody in connection with the burglaries but, at the time of going to press, had not been charged.
