CHARD and Ilminster's pioneering DrinksWatch group has been boosted by a £1,000 grant this week.
The money, from the Mendip and South Somerset Community Safety Partnership, can be spent on promoting the groundbreaking scheme.
DrinksWatch is a coalition of alcohol sellers in the two towns, including pubs, supermarkets and shops.
They have got together to form a strong group that can take action on alcohol issues and, if necessary, ban people from all premises in the group.
