MULLION 0 HELSTON 3 - TONY Morley's eye for a half chance is well documented, so when a defence just hands him a couple of openings any hope they might have had of getting something out of the game will have quickly disappeared.

That was the scenario at Mullion on Saturday when the Clifden Park club were beaten 3-0 by Helston with Morley snapping up a hat-trick.

Mullion set out their stall to frustrate their visitors and, hopefully, pick up a point if their tactics held up, but unfortunately basic defensive errors cost them dear.

Mullion coach Stuart Massey said his side paid the price for silly mistakes: "We had a game-plan to get a point from the game, but if you make defensive errors there is little you can do about it.

"I thought the lads worked very hard, they certainly earned the right to wear the shirt, but overall that wasn't quite good enough.

"Helston's better skill levels shone through and won them the game.

"They deserved to win, but I thought 3-0 was a little harsh on the commitment shown by our side."

Blues boss Kevin Goldsworthy said he thought it was a comfortable victory: "It was a typical local derby, but over the 90 minutes I thought we were always comfortable and looked the likely winners.

"Mullion made it difficult for us and it wasn't until the last quarter that we started to impose ourselves and play the sort of football we are capable of. It wasn't our best performance, but the longer it went on the better we got."
