WENDRON 3 ST AGNES 0 - WENDRON may not be everyone's cup of tea to lift the Jolly's Combination League championship, but they won't mind people ignoring them as they begin to slip into the picture and become serious contenders following another excellent victory.
Having already beaten front runners Truro City and title hopefuls Hayle, St Agnes have become the latest scalp in what was easily a comprehensive victory.
With both sides having applied to join the Carlsberg SWL, this was definitely a game to highlight their credentials to step up and it was the Underlane club who came out on top.
It wasn't like that at the beginning as St Agnes started the brighter of the two sides with Jeff Till having to clear a goalbound effort from a corner off the line.
As the half developed so Wendron began to take control with Sean Johnston and Lee Gribble causing problems down the flanks.
The opening goal came in the 22nd minute when Mike O'Neill received a pass from Jason Barber and turned his marker to lay the ball into the path of Sean Johnston. He took the ball at pace and crossed into the box which was cleared back out to Craig Martin who brought the ball under control and curled a magnificent shot inside the far post to give Symon Winnan no chance.
