LISKEARD ATHLETIC 6 PORTHLEVEN 0 - THIS scoreline certainly didn't like likely with just a few minutes to half-time, but after Porthleven conceded a goal it was all downhill as Liskeard Athletic raced to a comprehensive 6-0 win the Carlsberg SWL.

The Fishermen had problems even before the game started with Danny Ellis and Mark Hollands unavailable due to county youth football commitments and along with other injuries and unavailabilities the subs bench consisted of the unfit Keiran Avery, manager Gary Marks, and fitness trainer Dave Howe.

Porthleven appeared to have overcome all their problems at the start of the match when they made a promising opening with Danny Williams running on to Sean Middleton's pass and firing in a 25-yard shot that went just wide of the upright.

A cross from Liskeard's Chris Matthews found Aaron Cusack with some space, but he was unable to make anything of the opening.

The Fishermen continued to work hard and built some useful attacks with Nigel Thwaites failing to hit the target from a well-delivered cross by Robbie Robinson.

Liskeard had their moments, but Lee Harvey proved no more effective than anyone else after drilling his shot wide of the post.

The visitors had a great chance to open the scoring in the 28th minute when they had several stabs at putting a loose ball into the net, but eventually Thwaites drove wide from a promising position.

Minutes later another chance went begging when a good run by Thwaites set up a chance for Middleton, but from five yards he drove the ball straight at the 'keeper.

Those misses proved crucial in the 37th minute when Liskeard got the break they had been looking for when Jamie Morrison-Hill fed a perfect ball to Paul Baker who picked out a great pass for Harvey at the far post to tap into the net.

Cusack went round Taylor and looked certain to score Liskeard's second as he rolled the ball goalwards, but he reckoned without Scott Clark who got back to divert the shot for a corner.

Matthews and Dominic Richardson both flashed shots over the bar as half-time neared, but a minute from the break Athletic snapped up a second goal when Harvey turned Jamie Burr and ran clear to slip the ball past Taylor.

Two minutes into the second half Athletic killed the game off when they struck with a third goal, although Harvey's simple tap-in appeared to be courtesy of a fumble from a cross by Taylor.
