As a Cornish woman I would like to disassociate myself from the bigoted and xenophobic letter in last week's paper, "Living the dream and creating a nightmare." Cornwall is not a country, it is a county in England. Therefore anyone British is entitled to move where they want - they are not refugees. Why shouldn't any UK citizen be entitled to live in any part of their country and be made to feel welcome? Luckily the rest of the world didn't feel the same as the writer, or Cousin Jacks wouldn't have had such an easy time of it abroad.

The Dream Seekers have brought much prosperity and pleasure to Cornwall. I for one have benefited greatly from them moving into the county. This Friday I had dinner with friends from Yorkshire who absolutely adore this county and think themselves fortunate to be living here. They have and will continue to contribute to its economic and cultural wealth. On Saturday I spent the evening with my neighbour from Sussex. Her guests were also from "upcountry" all of whom counted their blessings to be living in such an idyllic part of the world, and why shouldn't they?

Perhaps our anonymous writer should reflect that for every dream seeker owning a home in Cornwall at one time or another a Cornish person must have sold it. And if they laughed at the price paid they were able to laugh all the way to the bank. Sue Martin, Wodehouse Terrace, Falmouth
