David Barnicoat's entry in today's Packet about the Fairsky docking in Falmouth in January, 1960, brought back vivid memories to me. At that time I was a booking clerk at Falmouth railway station. I, together with a colleague (the late Mr John Keppel), were taken out in the harbour master's launch to board the Fairsky in the bay. Once on board we were allocated a desk in one of the lounges and issued rail tickets to the passengers in exchange for their sailing tickets. By the time we had completed our task we found that we were already moored in the dry dock. The passengers then walked the short distance to the special train standing ready at the station to complete their journey to London. Thanks for the memory! A Martin Bennett, West End, Penryn
