Fat cat pay increases for county councillors were said to be needed partly because the Lib Dem majority now shoulder the burden of political responsibility. That'll be why they met behind closed doors to decide Cornwall should have a waste incinerator, whether we want one or not.
It'll be why MP Matthew Taylor said his constituents "can be reassured that whatever county councillors decide there will have to be a full public inquiry." All local Lib Dem MPs previously expressed concerns about waste proposals for the next 30 years which their councillors have now approved.
Actions speak louder than words and they can't be trusted to stand up for residents on the issues that matter most to local people. It would just be one more example of Lib Dem hypocrisy, if it wasn't so important to local people. Charlotte MacKenzie, Cornwall Terrace, Truro
