ILLOGAN 2 LUDGVAN 1 - ILLOGAN just about deserved the spoils from this intriguing Jolly's Combination League encounter having created the better chances.

It proved a cracking end-to-end match, but overall both defences appeared to have everything under control when more goals should have been scored.

Ludgvan started the better of the two sides, but their attacks lacked a cutting edge around the box.

With almost half an hour on the clock Illogan took the lead against the run of play when Gary Sturmey picked up a pass and breezed past a defender before hitting a superb curling 25-yard shot with the outside of his foot that left Andy Angove rooted to the spot.

Sturmey had an easy chance in the 33rd minute when he was through one-on-one with Angove, but his touch deserted him as he knocked his shot wide of the upright.

Danny Burrows had to be at his best to deny Ludgvan an equaliser when first he saved well from Jimmy Stevens and then tipped a Liam Bennett goal-bound shot around the post.
