TRURO 14pts MOUNT'S BAY 78pts - TRURO suffered another heavy defeat when they were beaten 78 points to 14 by promotion-chasing Mount's Bay at St Clement's Hill.

On a perfect day for open rugby, the league leaders demonstrated why they are favourites to win the title with a devastating performance of powerful open running rugby.

Truro did their best to stem the flow of tries, but were unable to prevent the visitors from going on the rampage.

Such was their dominance all over the park that they were able to run in 12 tries

Such was the quality of their rugby that by half-time the game was over as a contest after the visitors had put 40 points on the board although the front row finished the period with honours even.

The Bay were 19 points ahead when Truro put their first points on the board with a try from centre Ian Hambly. Fly-half Scott Martin added the extras.

It wasn't until in the second half when the Bay had extended their lead to 57-7 that Truro breeched the visitors' defence again when Brett Whitmill touched down following a driving maul for Martin to kick his second conversion.

That was Truro's last success as the Bay continued the onslaught with Ollie Faulkner snapping up four tries and other former Truro players getting amongst the scorers.
