SOMERSET is facing a crisis over affordable homes.
Rising house prices and low wages are forcing many young people to leave the county and making it harder to attract key workers.
Other pressures on availability of homes include popula tion growth, people living longer, falling household size, cou ples marrying later, the increasing divorce rate, second homes, restricted green field development and a lack of council houses caused by the right-to-buy scheme.
