Police in Plymouth investigating an attempted robbery in Clifton Place, Greenbank at about 7.55pm on Friday January 6 have appealed for witnesses.

A 38 yr old man from Plymouth was approached by a youth who demanded his wallet, saying he had a "blade". The man saw that the youth was holding a knife with a blade about 6 inches long.

The man said he didn't have a wallet and was then struck on the head by this youth, who then walked away with a number of other youths. His injuries were not serious.

DC Paul Weymouth who is investigating the offence said: "Someone may recognise the description of the youth involved in this attack or even been part of that group the suspect was with. I would urge anyone with information to contact me at Charles Cross police station on 08452 777 444 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where you need to leave your name, quoting police reference EC/06/223."

The suspect is described as a black male, about 15 years old 5ft 9in tall. He was wearing a dark skiing hat, dark blue or black Kappa trousers, beige bomber jacket with a dark hoody
