Workers from the Wellington areas are facing another job crisis after 180 jobs were axed at a large meat wholesaler in Willand.
Lloyd Maunder has announced it will no longer be producing lamb from its base in Lloyd Maunder Road after the loss of a contract with supermarket giant Sainsbury last March.
The firm tried to forge links with new customers and had some success but bosses have decided to pull the plug on lamb production and focus on its more successful poultry operations after the company took the lead nationally in the supply of specialist poultry.
