THE Environment Agency have confused walkers along the River Tone at Creech Castle, by apparently putting river warning signs on the wrong way round.
The agency has installed signed on the edge of the riverbanks warning of strong currents, underwater obstructions, no swimming and no canoeing.
But to read the signs people either have to be on the river, or get perilously close to the edge to see the inward facing warnings.
However, a spokesman for the EA said the signs were correct.
They said: "These signs are aimed at river users not those walking along the banks.
"But we are obviously concerned that people are looking at these signs on the riverbanks and could fall in.
"We are reviewing the situation."
