PUPILS at Trull Primary School have set up their own bank – with the help of NatWest.

NatWest is offering ongoing support to the initiative, which will be run by pupils, who will be able to find out the basics of running an account and managing their own money.

It is being called Trendle Children’s Bank - Trendle being the old name for Trull - following a competition to name it.

All students can open an account and will be able to pay in money during published opening hours.

They will also receive regular statements, which NatWest staff will go through with them, to help them understand the process of running an account.

Head teacher Heather Cunningham said: “The students are really excited about this venture.

“It’s very important that they gain basic money management and enterprise skills and setting up, running and using their own bank is an extremely practical and fun way of doing this and brings alive what happens in real life.”

Tina Fincham, from NatWest’s Taunton branch, said: “The students who have been selected to run the school bank have shown great interest and have been very keen to learn the new skills.

“I’m delighted that NatWest has been able to help Trull Primary School ensure that their students will be better prepared for the time when they have to manage their own finances.”
