TIVERTON Rowing Club is set to race in a series of regattas organised by a national rowing group. It is anticipated that the club will begin taking part in the contests within the next two weeks.
The events are being organised by the West of England Amateur Rowing Association (WEARA), of which the club recently became a member.
The first race will be the Bideford Regatta in September, followed by the South Coast Championship open event at Wimbleball. Senior crew members Monika Bokori-Brown and Morag van Niekerk will be competing in a double scull in their first ever competitive race.
It is also anticipated that the club will soon join the National Governing Body of British Rowing.
The club has recently found a new home at Petroc College and are currently active on the canal and river in the town centre.
New members are always welcome and anyone wishing to join should contact John Brown at jr_brown@hotmail.com.
