A NEW GCSE results school record was set by Bishop Fox’s Community School in Taunton this year.

Over 80% of students achieved five A*–C grades while that figure including English and maths was 52%.

Head teacher Paul Scutt offered his congratulations to both staff and students adding: “Results for the school continue to improve year on year.

“We have never been above 70% before so to rise above 80% is a phenomenal achievement. I am delighted for the very many students who worked so hard to achieve impressive grades. “These results follow a very successful OFSTED inspection at the end of last year where the school was judged to be good to outstanding.

“We have been on a journey of continuous school improvement for some time now and I am enormously proud of the fact that our school continues to march forward and offers a genuine culture of achievement in a framework where every child is special and is expected to achieve.”

Among the high achievers were Liam Escott, Rosalind Revans and Will Colwell who each achieved 12 A*/A grades and Emma Nicholson, and Jonathan Cooke who notched up 11.

Mr Scutt added: “We wish them and all our students every success in their future career paths. They really were a delightful year group who managed through their endeavours to smash the targets set for the school this year.”
