ROYAL Marine Steven Mills is looking forward to the end of his first six months tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Steven, 19, has already travelkled extensively with 40 Commando since joining up two years ago.
Last summer he was part of the Taurus deployment to Singapore and Brunei onboard the Royal Navy ship HMS Bulwark.
Steven,, who said that prepared him for the rough and tumble of Sangin, added: "The acclimatisation we did in Brunei helped, but it was a different type of hot.
"In the jungle it was a bit more clammy, out here the sun is just blazing down on you, so the heat stays on top of you all the time."
Marine Mills is due to return to the UK in the next few weeks and is looking forward to catching up with his friends and family.
