CHILDREN, parents, staff and school governors past and present of Knights Templar First School, Watchet have said goodbye to reception class assistant Mrs Glenda Bale, who has retired after 26 years.

Emotions ran high at a tea party held in Mrs Bale's honour, at which she received a special proclamation from Watchet Town Crier Alec Danby.

Mrs Bale first joined St Decuman's School, Watchet where she was a dinner lady as well as a classroom assistant.

When the two Watchet schools amalgamated in 1990 she became the classroom assistant for the reception class.

Headteacher, Alan Woollam said: "She has remained in this post the last 16 years where she has supported children in a kind and caring manner.

"Glenda was one of the first assistants to be appointed in Watchet and she has proved on a daily basis her long-standing service and loyalty to the children of Watchet.

"She will be much missed in the school by pupils and staff alike."
