West Somerset Community College student aims to break world record
A West Somerset Community College student joined in a world record-breaking attempt for the largest string orchestra.
Ellie Fletcher, 14, represented West Somerset among hundreds of string players of all levels and ages from the South West.
Ellie, who has violin lessons with teacher Ruth Gasperini, regularly rehearses and performs with the College Jazz Band, Music Group and String Group.
The group played the Concerto Grosso at Crealy Adventure Park in Cornwall as part of the string player's Joined Up Thinking Projects.
A West Somerset Community College spokesman said: “Although the event was very successful it unfortunately failed to beat the 400 players that originally performed this work.”
