A YEAR six pupil has risen to the challenge of naming the new morning and evening childcare club at Burrowbridge and Stoke St Gregory Primary School.
Jack Cauldwell’s entry ‘The sunup and sundown club’ was judged the winner in the competition, which was also to design a logo for the service.
Work on a £235,000 new building for the Willow Set Pre-school is nearly finished and organisers are expanding the services offered to local families with an extended morning and evening club.
The service will run from 8am to 5.30pm.
Steph Webster, chair of the Willows Set, said: “This is a fantastic development for the people of Burrowbridge and Stoke St Gregory. We are delighted to be able to offer such a comprehensive service to parents and children.”
David Fothergill, county councillor for the area and one of the three competition judges, said: “The level and quality of entries was incredible. It was really difficult to separate out the winners. All the children had put a lot of thought and effort into their entries.”
Class winners were Betsy Mellor (reception), Algernon Blacker (years 1 and 2), Harry Duxbury (year three and four) and Georgia Thompson (years five and six).
