Pupils at Blackbrook Primary School enjoyed a visit from the Taunton Fire Service as part of their community celebration week.

The celebration was held to launch their Global Friendship Community Project which hopes to partner pupils with other children across the world to introduce them to other cultures.

The school has established links as far afield as America, Uganda and India.

The project also helped the children to understand more about the local community; in this case the fire service.

Pupils were treated to a talk and demonstrations including the use of the fire hose and ladder.

Teacher Sarah Sherring, who organised the community celebration week, said: “The visit was a great success. It was a celebration of our strong local links which we have built up over the past couple of years.

“The fire service was phenomenal and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
