THE world’s first ‘paper’ milk bottle has launched for the first time in Somerset at Taunton’s ASDA store last weekend.
Named ‘GreenBottle’, the eco-friendly containers are made from a thin plastic liner surrounded by a paper exterior.
The bottles use one third of the plastic used in normal milk bottles and thus have a much smaller carbon footprint.
Taunton Deane’s new Mayor, Cllr Steve Brooks, attended the launch while shoppers received free GreenBottle milkshakes.
Taunton MP Jeremy Browne said: “I welcome the revolutionary GreenBottle to the ASDA here in Taunton.
“The environmental and waste reduction benefits, as well as the delicious locally-sourced milk, make this a great choice for those trying to do their bit to help our planet.”
