WE'RE backing an M5 Memorial Fund that has been set up to collect money in the wake of Friday's tragedy.

A bank account has been set up by officials at Wellington Football Club to receive money from anyone wanting to raise funds for a permanent memorial and for charities linked to the emergency services.

The fund is also backed by Somerset County Council.

A football club spokesman said: "The account will act as a central pot for funds while discussions take place about where to donate it and what sort of memorial could be created."

A charity football match is taking place on Friday, November 11, in aid of the fund - click on the Related Link below for more details.

Ideas for a permanent memorial include trees and/or a stone in Castle Green or Goodland Gardens.

Somerset County Council and Taunton Deane Council are fundraising for the cause.

If you would like to raise money for the fund, email details to newsdesk@countygazette.co.uk or text them to 80360 starting your message with the keywords COUNTY GAZETTE - texts are charged at your normal rate.

HOW TO DONATE: Call into any branch of HSBC bank and pay into the M5 Memorial Fund - sort code 40-46-05, account number 01246860.
