A MAN who unearthed a series of miniature hand crafted model aeroplanes at a Taunton charity shop is trying to get to the bottom of their history.

Steve Mills found the inch-sized models during a chance visit to St Margaret’s Hospice charity shop in town, and started to build up a collection.

Mr Mills, 56, now boasts 17 boxes of the aeroplanes, but he’s not willing to stop there.

He told the County Gazette: “I’ve got almost 200 planes now, but I’d like to track the rest down and find out more about the history of them.

“They must be 30 to 40 years old and look like they’ve definitely been hand carved and painted.

“I’d like to speak to the owner because more boxes keep appearing in the shop. I’d also like to collect the ones that are missing.”
