LIFE can be stressful with pressures from a number of sources – work, money, and relationships to name a few.
We may be anxious or depressed, have low self esteem, spend a lot of time going round in circles with unhelpful thoughts, or suffer from ‘stress-related’ illnesses.
Mindfulness meditation is well researched and is shown to help deal with stress. It increases well-being, enhances life enjoyment, and helps those suffering chronic pain and chronic medical conditions.
We learn to pay attention, in a particular way, to what is going on in the present. We discover how not to be overwhelmed by thoughts and emotions, and find new ways of responding intelligently to difficulties rather than reacting in old, often unhelpful, automatic patterns.
Miranda Bevis and Diana Stutfield offer Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction courses starting in May on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings. Taster session is being held on Tuesday, May 8, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at a cost of £5. Booking is essential.
