THE former Somerset County Records office in Obridge has a new occupant.

It has been bought by Oakwood Church, which had been meeting at the Albemarle Centre for 20 years.

County councillor Claire Gordon popped down to the centre on Monday to hand over the keys to Minister Kevin Parker and his wife, Julie.
Pastor Parker said: “We’re delighted to have saved such a fine building from demolition.

“It was built to preserve the past, but now it has an exciting new future, helping to meet the needs of the people of North Taunton.

“We very much look forward to serving alongside other organisations in this area.”

A refurbishment programme is set to take place over the next few months, and the church aims to open early in the New Year.
