A POPULAR shop selling sweet treats and desserts in Taunton has seen impressive growth over the three years it has been in operations.

Sians Sweet Treats, located off Lisieux Way, has been up and running now for just shy of three years and in that time has grown from being home-based to a thriving shop.

Owners Sian Hughes and Lily Cooper share a love of baking that is very clear when you speak to them. The pair are so passionate about their products and the business.

Sian started baking as a hobby in 2015, and then began the business from her own home during lockdown in 2021 with the help of good friend and fellow baking enthusiast Lily.

Sian said: "I wanted to turn my love of baking into my job so during lockdown I started the business from my own home.

"It wasn't long before we needed to expand and we moved into our shop. It was quite a surprise at how quick we progressed but it has been a really fun journey."

The food takeaway and delivery outlet has a very broad menu, offering everything from bacon baps to loaded waffles. The business also has its alcohol license and sells a range of alcohol products, including slushies.

They also deliver to virtually the whole Devon and Somerset area, with their two delivery services (one is next day and the other is same day).

Lily said: "I feel like when we opened we filled a gap in the market in Taunton and surrounding areas.

"Lockdown of course was a tough time, but the work has paid off and we are so proud to be an independent business."

Looking at the last 12 months in the business, the shop has seen a major renovation and improvements as they have grown.

On top of that, the team of staff has had to grow and continues to as they get more and more business. Currently they have 20 drivers to help keep up with the demand of the delivery orders.

And to look forward, Sian and Lily have got plans to hopefully one day expand.

"We have employed new front of house staff and more drivers, we really just needed more bodies to help.

"We will look to expand someday in the future, and we will look to do more events as well.

"Thank you to everyone in Taunton and the surrounding areas who have supported us, we truly appreciate it, and hope to see you in store soon!"

Sians Sweet Treats will celebrate its official third birthday in the coming months and will be hosting an in-store event. Follow their social media pages to stay up-to-date!

To finish, my recommendation - the Australian Crunch. I tried it and loved it, would highly recommend.
