Fans of the Great British Bake Off have shared their thoughts on the show’s newest judge, Nigella Lawson.
At the start of 2026, it was announced that Dame Prue Leith would be stepping down as a judge on the Great British Bake Off after featuring in nine series.
On the decision, Prue said: “Bake Off has been a fabulous part of my life for the last nine years, I have genuinely loved it and I’m sure I’ll miss working with my fellow judge Paul, Alison and Noel and the teams at Love Productions and Channel 4.
“But now feels like the right time to step back (I’m 86 for goodness sake!), there’s so much I’d like to do, not least spend summers enjoying my garden.”
Fans share their thoughts on new Bake Off judge Nigella Lawson
Shortly after Prue’s announcement, it was revealed that Nigella Lawson would be taking over.
Nigella revealed she was “lost for words” after joining the show and said it was “daunting to be following in the footsteps of Prue Leith and Mary Berry”.
As the first episode of the new series aired tonight (Tuesday, September 22), fans have revealed what they think of the new judge.

One person shared their joy about the new judge joining the show and said: “What a fantastic foursome.
“Have always loved Nigella and with Noel's good looks, Alison's joy and Paul's blue eyes it's going to be a great series.”
Another person said: “Nigella Lawson on Bake Off.
“My goodness. I adore that woman. Absolutely adore Nigella Lawson.
“I’m deeply content at the moment.”
One person is hoping Nigella will recreate one of her iconic moments and said: “If Nigella doesn’t say micro-wavey once this series. I will be gutted.
“But I’m excited for her to be in this series and it was a nice send off for Prue at the start of the episode.”
