FOR the first time the Devon Dahlia and Chrysanthemum Society held their annual show at the Wellington Flower Show.
It was a great success and they intend to make this a regular occurrence, swapping from their previous venue in Tiverton.
There were some stunning entries, with dahlia exhibitors travelling from all over the West country.
Garden journalist and broadcaster, Rebecca Pow, who attended the show as a special visitor was delighted to meet the judges and exhibitors.
She said: "Dahlias are spectacular flowers and special highlights in the autumn garden. It’s been a challenging long, hot summer but these dahlias were a credit to the exhibitors.
"I am delighted to hear that following the success of this first venture the Devon Dahlia Society will be making their annual show a regular feature of the Wellington Flower Show which in itself attracted excellent entries in a wide range of classes and was a highly successful community event."
The overall winner of Best in Show was Ivor Kitchener from Cornwall.
